Ixion is a game about building your own space station that will allow the rest of humanity to survive and find a new home for the entire human race in the process. However, this can be problematic, especially if you are inexperienced in the field of city building games. With our Ixion guide – tips and tricks, you can easily get started . If you would like to learn more about various topics, we have included links to articles that will deepen your knowledge on the subject.
Ixion Guide – Tips & Tricks: Building
- Respect space – you have one station for the whole game, over time you will unlock new sectors, but the more there are, the more problems you have. It’s a good idea to make full use of the unlocked space. More information on this topic can be found here: Ixion – Layout Guide: Examples and Tips and Ixion – Layout and Crop Growth Guide .
- Do not be afraid of repair – the game allows you to get a full refund of raw materials for a demolished building. Take advantage of this and adapt the space to your needs as much as possible.
- Roads – all buildings must be connected by them, otherwise they will not work. So be careful with the placement of structures. Even gates to new sectors must have roads connected to them in order to open them.
- You need a lot of warehouses – each resource requires a separate warehouse in the sector. If you don’t have it or don’t have space in it, the raw material will stop being created/you won’t be able to import it.
- Railway station – it is worth getting interested in this building as early as possible. It does not require additional space to build (which is a huge advantage), and it brings useful bonuses. You can read more about this here: Ixion – Station Guide; Explanation of icons and more .
Ixion Guide – Tips & Tricks: Population Management
- Keep an eye on working conditions – if you give your workers too many responsibilities, they will be overwhelmed. Then you will face a wave of accidents, and you don’t want that. You can read more about it here: Ixion – Accidents, Infirmary, and Overwork: Population Management .
- Take care of the population – there are several types of citizens: workers, non-workers and colonists. Their number in the game is limited and there are a lot of responsibilities, so try not to lose them (take care of their needs, mood and the conditions in which they work). You can read more about it here: Ixion – Non-Workers, Workers, and Colonists: Population Explained .
Ixion Guide – Tips & Tricks: Resources
- Ensure Resource Transfer – Your station is made up of sectors and they don’t automatically share resources with each other. You must execute the appropriate commands in resource management. You can read more about this here: Ixion – Transferring resources between sectors and more .
- Be careful with energy – buildings need energy to work. If you use too much, the station will turn off. It is also connected with the discontent of the population. Remember that you can place solar panels outside the station. It’s also worth making sure you have batteries that store energy.
- Iron is life . The alloy is necessary for the development of the station, and it is created from iron. Even if you think you have a lot of them, you will need them later.
Ixion Guide – Tips & Tricks: Other
- Do not rush to move on to later chapters – the beginning of the game will be very fertile for you compared to the rest. It is worth lingering a bit and collecting a supply of raw materials, especially iron. However, staying in one place also negatively impacts population satisfaction over time, so beware of this.
- Do not rush to open new sectors – new sectors mean a new living space, but also new responsibilities. They require additional people and resources to maintain them. So it’s worth considering if you can afford them.
- Be careful with technology – at the beginning the game will shower you with science points. Later, however, they will not be so generously available. So spend them carefully. In the beginning, focus on the most important technologies and those that the game requires of you. Don’t waste them left and right – always have a little extra.
- Steam Deck Compatibility – if you want to buy Ixion to play this portable console, we advise you not to buy. You can read more about it here: Ixion – Steam Deck Compatibility Explained .
- Events – as you explore the world, you will come across interesting events. By managing them correctly, you will get new people and resources. You will also learn more about knowledge. Some events will be story events, others optional, and you can read about all of them here: Ixion Chapters – List and Event Choices Guide .
